A LASTING TRIBUTE: TO DR. JOHN E. MACK. & ASTRONAUT 'GORDO' COOPER

A drunken driver claimed the life of alien abduction researcher Dr. John E. Mack on September 27, 2004. He was hit by a car while crossing a busy London street. He was 74. He had just attended and talked for 2 days at Oxford College.

Back in 1964, Mack went to Harvard Medical School to teach, and in 1972 he became a professor of psychiatry. In 1977, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his biography of T. E. Lawrence: "A Prince of Our Disorder: The Life of T.E. Lawrence." He wrote or collaborated on a total of eleven books. He founded the Center for Psychology and Social Change in 1983.

Mack, who was a certified practitioner of adult and child psychoanalysis, also founded the psychiatric department of Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Could a researcher into alien abductions possibly have any better credentials?

In 1990, Dr. Mack began his research into the alien abduction phenomenon after he was introduced to the subject by another researcher-author Budd Hopkins.

By 1993, Mack had interviewed dozens of abductees and had decided that what was happening to them was real. In 1994, he published his findings in a book called ‘Abduction - Human Encounters with Aliens’...which caused quite a stir. After all, this was a Harvard professor of psychology, not a tabloid writer.

One of his memorable quotes to doubters was…’If you encounter something that doesn't fit your worldview, it's more intellectually honest to say, 'maybe there's something wrong with this worldview', than to try to shoehorn your findings into an existing belief’.


The publication of this book raised anxiety levels at Harvard, and Mack was subjected to a 15 month investigation of his work by an ad-hoc committee. The committee issued no formal censure, but lectured Dr. Mack on his method of approaching the subject and suggested that he develop a multidisciplinary approach to the study.

Mack did so with a Harvard conference in 1999 that included abductees, astrophysicists, anthropologists, and psychologists from various disciplines of psychology.

Gordon ‘Gordo’ Cooper-Pioneering Astronaut–’passed over’-age 77. In his post-NASA career, Cooper became known as an outspoken believer in UFOs and charged that the government was covering up its knowledge of extraterrestrial activity.

‘I know that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which obviously are more than just a little bit technically advanced than we are here on Earth,’

And ‘Gordo’ told a United Nations panel in 1985- ‘I feel that we need to have a top-level, coordinated program to scientifically collect and analyze data from all over the Earth concerning any type of encounter, and to determine how best to interface with these visitors in a friendly fashion’.

NASA astronaut, L. Gordon Cooper stated, "While working with a camera crew supervising flight testing of advanced aircraft at Edward's Air Force Base, California, the camera crew filmed the landing of a strange disc object that flew in over their heads and landed on a dry lake nearby. A camera crewman approached the saucer, it rose up above the area and flew off at a speed faster than any known aircraft." -


Gordon Cooper became involved with the United Nation's efforts to have the subject of UFOs brought before the UN and to have it finally disclosed that unknown crafts are being encountered all over the earth. I believe Cooper knew secrets about UFOs he kept from disclosing to the public. On the Merv Griffin TV show he replies to the question, "Have any of them [aliens] ever been here?" Cooper's response was, "Yes, I think they have and are here regularly." He also talks about visitation, etc. in the universe, abduction, crashed disc, etc. He says the "occupants are not much different than we are.
