Faculty 'x' - Glimses Of The Supressed

"When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse
out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on
The child has grown the dream has gone
And I have become Comfortably Numb'
Memories/glimses of another time another place in my early childhood - (pre five years old as I moved house then - so that dates my experiences) a time & place that does not exist in our waking experience - but it is not a dreamworld either - it is on some ultra reality state.
The remembrance of vivid - unreal bright mystical colours - large bejewelled items with large coloured gemstones - that even today (as in Colin Wilson's Faculty 'X') instances occur that suddenly jerk me back for a micro second - 'and I cannot put my finger on' - a certain array of lights or colours (or sounds) that trigger the memory but stifles it instantly as though the knowledge of it is supressed in the deep recesses of the mind
Are they the remnants of early experiences with the 'third kind' -
As I can find no instances in worldly life of the items that are so familiar but out of reach to me as in the 'fleeting glimpses'
pieces off the jigsaw are filtered through in the music and lyrics of certain artists that affect the body on different levels
( Pink Floyd one of their albums from 1968 was called 'A saucerful of Secrets' (a Flying Saucer!!) and pop legend has it that each time they played 'Set the controls for the heart of the sun' at an outdoors festival - a UFO would appear overhead)
And my greatest inspiration comes from Jimi Hendrix and from his 'Castles made of sand'
"Look a golden winged ship has passed my way, and it doesn't have to stop, just keep on going"

what music & lyrics have inspired you on, or maybe has a certain resonance with you,
something that is just that bit deeper than easy listening - Music that actually effects you.
maybe see if there are any similarities and whether there is a message comin' across in waves ?!

*Why not Seth,
...In those GREAT Years...'Woodstock' era and all....the Music was Rebel. That is...Music/lyrics had revolutionary thought MESSAGES. They spoke of assault on 'The System'...supressing contrary and individual thinking by 'The Establishment' pressures....FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
Now...the music/lyrics....have been Commercialized and socialized. That's how 'Movements' are destroyed...by commercializing them. Music today conforms to money making/feminizing social chatter/dancing/and mostly flashy 'white Noise'. It is now the anti-thesis of 'thinking' or rebelling. Flash back and compare with today's scene...you'll get my drift. Comments/opinions/and other views would certainly by most welcome here. Thanks/'Sweeps'

Quicksilver Messenger Service another case where their live material far outshines there few studio records
Thats why i campaign for 'Keep Music Live'
But my music interests are wide and varied - so as not to miss the message
or as John Miles aptly put it in :-'Music'
"Music is my first love and it will be my last - Music of the future and music off the past"

*Hey hey you....get off a my cloud Seth,
...Interesting, Definitely into LIVE Stuff too. Sounds as though you've got some very 'neaty keeno' concerts. Would love to 'match up' mine with yours. On the same frequency many times huh? Go to lots of LIVE local talent fetes here in Ireland. Much better played/written...sounding...then the Crap the Hollywood crowd dictates for the 'Kids' to listen to. Thanks/'S'

*Good Ole Scotland,
...Have to tell us more about your 'Yank' friend. Funny/Ironic...I was in the Middle-East as well in '92'. Too bad...If I'd known you then...could have 'had you over' to Saudi or visited with you in Egypt. Nah...I'd go to Egypt. They wouldn't let you in Saudi. Laugh
