Al Gore and the global warming army is not going to like this. In fact, dozens of climate scientists who originally signed off on the IPCC/'Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change'…ARE DROPPING OFF IN GROVES. This is what happens when people are 'LIED' into a cause. Every bit in the same manner as 9-11 equals terrorism equals Iraq equals terrorist equals weapons of mass destruction. All a lie -- and now the current President of the United States sets to leave in disgrace.

It's all about cycles -- Two hundred years of glacial shrinkage in Alaska, and then came the winter and summer of 2007-2008. Unusually large amounts of winter snow were followed by unusually chill temperatures in June, July and August.

In mid-June…I was surprised to see snow still at sea level in Prince William Sound'…said U.S. Geological Survey glaciologist Bruce Molnia. On the Juneau Icefield, there was still 20 feet of new snow on the surface of the Taku Glacier in late July. At Bering Glacier, a landslide I am studying, located at about 1,500 feet elevation, did not become snow free until early August.

Never before in the history of a research project dating back to 1946 had the Juneau Ice field witnessed the kind of snow buildup that came this year. IT WAS SIMILAR ON A LOT OF OTHER GLACIERS TOO.

The article began…'Last year was the warmest in the continental United States in the past 112 years--capping a nine-year warming streak 'unprecedented in the historical record'.

The Associated Press, 'USA Today', and other media outlets published similar stories. A January 9, 2007 news release from the Union of Concerned Scientists argued, 'No one should be surprised that 2006 is the hottest year on record for the U.S'.

NASA ADMITS ERRORS

However, climate expert Steve McIntyre--one of the "deniers" alarmists claim should be ignored in the ongoing global warming debate--noticed irregularities in the U.S. temperature data compiled since 2000.

A thorough review of the raw data revealed that beginning in 2000 NASA applied a new formula to its methods of smoothing out and averaging raw temperature data. The new formula, McIntyre proved, resulted in NASA unjustifiably adding 0.15º Celsius to each year's final temperature average.
Confronted with McIntyre's findings, NASA admitted its error and quietly revised downward its post-2000 U.S. temperature reports.

As a result, scientists discovered 2006 was not the warmest year in U.S. history. In fact, 1934 was the warmest year , and 2006 fell to a distant fourth. Only four of the top 11 warmest years have occurred since 1954, according to the corrected data.

Although the mainstream media had annually given high-profile coverage to the erroneous reports of record-setting U.S. temperatures, few mainstream newspapers or news networks reported the corrected data, even in the briefest of mentions.

This is precisely how the 'hockey stick' purporting to rewrite history--erasing the Medieval Warm Period and subsequent Little Ice Age--was debunked, and indeed by the very same person--McIntyre said Chris Horner…a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

'While the hockey stick error was glaring, as it absurdly rewrote well-established history, this new documentation of data errors overstating recent warming was pure investigative genius fueled by dogged determination'.

Horner added. 'McIntyre knew that our surface measuring stations are suspect. Some were exposed as being in asphalt parking lots, on tar roofs, next to air conditioning vents, attached to a chimney, and overhanging a Weber Grill. So he began digging and found an otherwise inexplicable jump in the year 2000'.

Similarly, in the current instance, "Again, a Gore advisor--James Hansen this time--refused to provide his codes, but again McIntyre was able to recreate enough to present his findings to NASA, who corrected the error. The alarmists who trumpeted recent years as 'warmest ever!!!' in the United States (by a mere tenth of a degree) now dismiss this reversal--2000 and subsequent years being cooler than 1900--as just being a tenth of a degree or so. Well, either that's a big deal whichever direction it falls or it isn't. Which time are you lying?" Horner asked.

'This is why it is important to be as open as possible as a scientist about what you did and how you did it, to make full disclosure of all your data and methods', Ferguson explained. 'This allows others to replicate your work and helps ensure that science moves forward on the best possible footing…and that policymakers operate off of factual data and not belief systems'.

'It is for this reason that it is of the gravest concern that leading climate scientists and organizations, up to and including even the IPCC …Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change…are still failing to make full disclosure regarding many of the data that they spin into the public domain', Ferguson observed.

Pending the results of the commission, the party…have promised to build new fossil-fuelled power stations to meet energy demands and scrap subsidies for wind farms. Global warming 'propaganda' like the Al Gore film Inconvenient Truth will be banned in schools and public authorities will not be allowed to spend money on climate change initiatives. Yikes.

Can you imagine an American political Party taking such a position, and how our press would go absolutely apoplectic?

Having read about a type of coal power station known as 'fluidised bed' and also the advantages of combined heat + power and waste gas management I am convinced that we should be looking at coal power stations.

With one proviso.

We might be about to get zero point systems, so maybe it does not matter that we are living off the fat of years gone by and have an energy crisis looming. Because we will not need new power stations - instead we will all have our own free supplies from little boxes 'in the back yard'???

Back in the 1970s before people were screaming about global warming, scientists were warning us that the next ice age may be just around the corner. The big freeze scare was eventually pushed aside by the great man-made global warming hoax. Now a new study has been released that global warming may be just the Earth's warning that a new Ice Age is near.

In the Earth's history thus far, there have been periods where glaciers covered much of Europe, each lasting about 100,000 years. These are separated by warmer interglacial periods lasting around 10,000 years. We are currently at the end of an interglacial era called the Holocene.

Researchers took a look at what happened to the climate just before the last major glacier period, around 115,000 years ago and they found that there was a period of extreme climate fluctuations. They suggest that the period of global warming that plateaued fifteen years ago may just be one of those pre-glacier heat waves.

In Central and Eastern Europe, the slow transition from the Eemian Interglacial to the Weichselian Glacial was marked by a growing instability in vegetation trends with possibly at least two warming events. This is the finding of German and Russian climate researchers who have evaluated geochemical and pollen analyses of lake sediments in Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Russia. Writing in Quaternary International, scientists from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), the Saxon Academy of Sciences (SAW) in Leipzig and the Russian Academy of Sciences say that a short warming event at the very end of the last interglacial period marked the final transition to the ice age.

The Eemian Interglacial was the last interglacial epoch before the current one, the Holocene. It began around 126,000 years ago, ended around 115,000 years ago and is named after the river Eem in the Netherlands. The followed Weichselian Glacial ended around 15,000 years ago is the most recent glacial epoch named after the Polish river Weichsel.

At its peak around 21,000 years ago, the glaciers stretched as far as the south of Berlin (Brandenburg Stadium).

The results show a relatively stable climate over most of the time, but with instabilities at the beginning and end of the Eemian Interglacial. "The observed instability with the proven occurrence of short warming events during the transition from the last interglacial to the last glacial epoch could be, when viewed carefully, a general, naturally occurring characteristic of such transition phases," concludes Dr Tatjana Boettger of the UFZ, who analysed the sediment profiles at the UFZ's isotope laboratory in Halle. "Detailed studies of these phenomena are important for understanding the current controversial discussed climate trend so that we can assess the human contribution to climate change with more certainty," explains Dr Frank W. Junge of the SAW.

The scientists got their results by examining ancient lake sediments exposed by modern open-cast mining in Russia and Germany. They believe that the end of the Eemian interglacial epoch saw "possibly at least two" warming events, according to a statement issued by the UFZ.

"The observed instability with the proven occurrence of short warming events during the transition from the last interglacial to the last glacial epoch could be, when viewed carefully, a general, naturally occurring characteristic of such transition phases," concludes UFZ boffin Dr Tatjana Boettger.


Boettger and her fellow researchers say that the Eemian ice-free period wound up with sudden - in these terms - warming spells and serious changes in vegetation. Then the glaciers surged south, at their high tide 21,000 years ago reaching as far as Berlin.

Back in the 1970s before people were screaming about global warming, scientists were warning us that the next ice age may be just around the corner. The big freeze scare was eventually pushed aside by the great man-made global warming hoax. Now a new study has been released that global warming may be just the Earth's warning that a new Ice Age is near.

In the Earth's history thus far, there have been periods where glaciers covered much of Europe, each lasting about 100,000 years. These are separated by warmer interglacial periods lasting around 10,000 years. We are currently at the end of an interglacial era called the Holocene.

Researchers took a look at what happened to the climate just before the last major glacier period, around 115,000 years ago and they found that there was a period of extreme climate fluctuations. They suggest that the period of global warming that plateaued fifteen years ago may just be one of those pre-glacier heat waves.

In Central and Eastern Europe, the slow transition from the Eemian Interglacial to the Weichselian Glacial was marked by a growing instability in vegetation trends with possibly at least two warming events. This is the finding of German and Russian climate researchers who have evaluated geochemical and pollen analyses of lake sediments in Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Russia. Writing in Quaternary International, scientists from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), the Saxon Academy of Sciences (SAW) in Leipzig and the Russian Academy of Sciences say that a short warming event at the very end of the last interglacial period marked the final transition to the ice age.

The Eemian Interglacial was the last interglacial epoch before the current one, the Holocene. It began around 126,000 years ago, ended around 115,000 years ago and is named after the river Eem in the Netherlands. The followed Weichselian Glacial ended around 15,000 years ago is the most recent glacial epoch named after the Polish river Weichsel.

At its peak around 21,000 years ago, the glaciers stretched as far as the south of Berlin (Brandenburg Stadium).

The results show a relatively stable climate over most of the time, but with instabilities at the beginning and end of the Eemian Interglacial. "The observed instability with the proven occurrence of short warming events during the transition from the last interglacial to the last glacial epoch could be, when viewed carefully, a general, naturally occurring characteristic of such transition phases," concludes Dr Tatjana Boettger of the UFZ, who analysed the sediment profiles at the UFZ's isotope laboratory in Halle. "Detailed studies of these phenomena are important for understanding the current controversial discussed climate trend so that we can assess the human contribution to climate change with more certainty," explains Dr Frank W. Junge of the SAW.

The scientists got their results by examining ancient lake sediments exposed by modern open-cast mining in Russia and Germany. They believe that the end of the Eemian interglacial epoch saw "possibly at least two" warming events, according to a statement issued by the UFZ.

"The observed instability with the proven occurrence of short warming events during the transition from the last interglacial to the last glacial epoch could be, when viewed carefully, a general, naturally occurring characteristic of such transition phases," concludes UFZ boffin Dr Tatjana Boettger.


Boettger and her fellow researchers say that the Eemian ice-free period wound up with sudden - in these terms - warming spells and serious changes in vegetation. Then the glaciers surged south, at their high tide 21,000 years ago reaching as far as Berlin.

UN climate change chief Rajendra Pachauri says sorry — and switches to neutral

Rajendra Pachauri said he would focus in future on presenting the science on climate change rather than advocating policies

The outspoken chairman of the UN's climate change body is to adopt a neutral advisory role and has agreed to stop making statements demanding new taxes and other radical policies on cutting emissions.

In an interview with The Times, Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, apologized for his organization's handling of complaints about errors in its report.

He also apologized for describing as 'voodoo science'…an Indian Government report which challenged the IPCC's claims about the rapid melting of Himalayan glaciers.
But Dr Pachauri, 70, rejected calls for his resignation and insisted he would remain as chairman until after publication of the IPCC's next report in 2014.

He claimed he had the support of all the world's governments and denied that, by remaining in post, he was undermining the IPCC's chances of regaining credibility with the public.
"It is not correct to say there are people who don't trust me," he said.

He admitted it had been a mistake to give the impression, in many interviews, that he was advocating specific actions to cut emissions. Last year, he called for higher taxes on aviation and motoring, said people should eat less meat, and proposed that hotel rooms should have electricity meters to charge people extra for using air conditioning.

Speaking in London yesterday, he said he would focus in future on presenting the science on climate change rather than advocating policies.

"I will try to clarify that I'm not prescribing anything as a solution. Maybe I should be more careful [in media interviews] in laying down certain riders. One learns from that and I'm learning."

On the IPCC's tardiness in responding to complaints and correcting errors — such as its claim that all Himalayan glaciers would disappear by 2035 — he said: "Our response has been much too late and much too inadequate."

Of his 'voodoo science' comment, he said: "It was an intemperate statement. I shouldn't have used those words. I have to show respect to people who have worked on a particular subject."

However, he said that the review of the IPCC announced this month would not consider his role or his actions. The review, by a panel drawn from the world's leading science academies, will only consider the IPCC's procedures.

Dr Pachauri said he wanted more power over the IPCC secretariat and an extra $1million (£671,000) a year to fund its work, on top of the $5million it already receives. The IPCC is planning to recruit more spin-doctors to help it promote its work and defend itself against attacks by climate sceptics. Dr Pachauri said that at present the organisation is "terribly ill-equipped" to communicate with the world's media.
