Hello everyone,

In today's newspaper is an advert by BMW about their new way to save some of the costs of motoring - by magnetically locking on to the vehicle in front!

Called BMW Magnetic Tow Technology by their Head of Innovation (Herr Noitt All) the idea allows drivers to travel with their engines switched off.

This emerging technology is a variant of the concept which is already well known to devotees of 'Star Trek' where the good ship Enterprise has often demonstrated an ability to use 'tractor beams' to lock on to other craft / vehicles, albeit usually to pull them towards it, rather than as an alternative form of motive power.

For more information call 0800 777 119 or send an email to Uve.Vollenvorit@bmw.co.uk

Before sending make sure that you read the email address out aloud, to make sure that it is spelt correctly.

Simon

btw, what I want to know is how one heats the vehicle in winter, if the engine is off? That said, if you note the date you will realise that winter is many months away and maybe by this time next year the solution will be known.

-'Chicken stuff' Simon,
-We do one/a lot better in the 'States'. We go 'Bumper to Bumper' at 80 Miles Per Hour in NYC. That's only during 'Rush Hours' though. Usually it's Bumper to Bumper at 60 MPH-Captain :P
