ACORN -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform... a publicly funded national organization is using your tax dollars to actively interfere with the Second Amendment exercise of gun rights in New Jersey and elsewhere.

ACORN went public with its gun control activism when it intervened in an unsuccessful attempt to defend Jersey City, New Jersey, a hot bed of anti-gun rights extremists, to disarm its citizens with a local gun control ordinance. ACORN pushed for stronger local gun restrictions that were already struck down by the New Jersey state court as a violation of state law.

Obama and ACORN's interest is in disarming law-abiding citizens.

It is an outrage that this group has intervened to defend an anti-gun ordinance that has already been declared illegal by the court. So long as ACORN accepts one penny of public funding, the organization should remain absolutely neutral on social issues, political campaigns and especially legal actions defending the right to keep and bear arms.

For the past few election cycles ACORN has clearly grown more partisan toward the radical political Left. ACORN'S PAC, in fact, endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president, even though their tax-exempt status prohibits endorsement of political candidates. That's hardly surprising since he used to serve as their legal counsel and he taught the group about community organizing. ACORN and Obama are lockstep in seeking to destroy our Second Amendment rights.

We call upon the FBI to expand the scope of its ACORN investigation and focus on the group's involvement in the Jersey City case.

We support Ohio Congressman John Boehner's request that the White House immediately block all federal funding of ACORN activities until this group's questionable activities are fully investigated. We want to know how they are paying for attorneys, and why Seton Hall's Center for Social Justice and the Public Interest Law Center are providing legal assistance to ACORN for this effort.

ACORN has, since 1998, received an estimated $31 million in government funding. Yes, Obama knows a great deal about ACORN and its role in the bailout mess. He is a central figure in the left-wing ACORN exploitation of financial institutions to pressure them to make high risk loans. This IS the very same left-wing ACORN that was sued for voter fraud in our last presidential election.

Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to a front of ACORN, currently under investigation in a dozen States for voter registration fraud and bribery schemes, for "get-out-the-vote-efforts";

Obama co-sponsored legislation called the "Helping Families Save their Homes in Bankruptcy Act of 2007"-- that was supported by ACORN and protects them from prosecution and any responsibility for causing the largest financial crisis since The Great Depression.

"Bad enough that ACORN is implicated in fraudulent activities in several states, but now an ACORN chapter in the Garden State is working against the ability of New Jersey gun owners to exercise a constitutionally protected individual civil right to own a handgun," said former NYPD detective, Sid Frances.

This is still the United States, not a socialist gulag. Public money should not be given to private organizations which then turn around and utilize that funding to usurp the electoral process and erode constitutionally guaranteed civil rights.

The fact that the federal government would even consider using ACORN as part of its 2010 Census to disenfranchise gun rights supporters is cause for Americans to be very concerned.

All that seems to be on the minds of Anti-Gun Obama and at the offices of gun control extremists is figuring out how to invade your privacy to erode and eventually destroy the right, and the means, of self-defense.

State elections board probes possible 2007 voter fraud at Topsail, NC

The N.C. Board of Elections is looking into possible voter fraud in the 2007 Topsail Beach Board of Commissioners election, state Rep. Carolyn Justice, R-Pender, says.The issue is one that has come up before on the resort island: legal residency of property owners.Justice said she had spoken with state elections Executive Director Gary Bartlett about the situation and was told the office would address it soon.“We talked about the situation of people getting other people who live outside the area but have a home at the beach changing their addresses so they could vote in an election,” Justice said. “He promised me that they would address the subject soon. ACORN Continues to Make Headlines

We need to give credit where credit is due. Today, the AP reports that acting under a tip from ACORN, authorities in Florida have arrested 11 individuals accused of falsifying hundreds of voter applications during a registration drive last year. According to the press report, "the suspects collectively turned in about 1,400 registration cards, of which 888 were later found to be faked." While this was certainly a smart move on ACORN’s part to assist in this criminal investigation, this controversial organization is far too often implicated in these falsified voter registration activities.In fact, over the years, ACORN and its employees have been the subject of investigations, indictments, and consent decrees in states all across the nation for election-related activities that run afoul of the law. Yet, since 1994, Congress has given it $53 million. And, legislation passed this year alone will make billions potentially available to this organization. Inquiry opened into New Black Panther case

The Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility has begun an official inquiry into the dismissal in May of a civil complaint against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place during the November general elections.The inquiry is disclosed in an Aug. 28 letter to Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee who first raised questions about the dismissal in May and asked unsuccessfully that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. make available the head of the department's Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division for a closed-door briefing on the decision.In the letter, Mary Patrice Brown, acting OPR counsel, told the veteran congressman from Texas that the office had "initiated an inquiry into the matter" and that it would "contact you with the results of our inquiry once it is completed." The scandal surrounding the left-wing activist organization ACORN has spread to New York, with employees at its Brooklyn office caught on video helping supposed ladies of the night get loans for their dream houses of ill repute.

Rather than reminding the women that prostitution is dangerous and illegal and advising them to change their careers, counselors at the social-services group shockingly offer suggestions on how they can launder their earnings.

"Honesty is not going to get you the house," a loan counselor at the offices told two activists posing as a mortgage-seeking pimp and prostitute.

"You can't say what you do for a living."

"When you buy the house with a back yard. You get a tin . . . and bury it down in there, and you put the money right in, and you put grass over it, and you don't tell a single soul but yourself where it is," she said.

Albert even had advice on protecting O'Keefe from getting tied by authorities to Giles' prostitution.

Her illegally obtained revenue could be given to O'Keefe through an intermediary, and then he could use it for a down payment on the house by applying for a "no doc" loan.

In the earlier videos, counselors offered similar suggestions to a "prostitute," telling her to list her occupation as "performance artist," and even offering advice on how to claim as dependants underage girls recruited for the business.

Milagros Rivera, the Brooklyn office administrator advised Giles, "don't get caught -- it's against the law what you are doing, and there's a chance you'll get caught."

Before bidding them good luck, Albert offered two final suggestions.

"Save for a rainy day," she said. "And live well."

O'Keefe, who majored in philosophy at Rutgers University, said he and Giles funded the project themselves. This kind of undercover, guerrilla tactic is the "future of investigative journalism and political activism," he said.

Inspired by "Rules for Radicals," Saul Alinsky's bible for rabble-rousing, more often associated with the left, O'Keefe said he has been targeting and exposing the "absurdities of the enemy by employing their own rules and language."

"If you can make impossible demands on your enemy, you can destroy them," he said.

So he began using a hidden camera "in a location I'd rather not disclose" and started visiting ACORN offices around the Northeast.

As with a series of videos O'Keefe made in 2008, in which Planned Parenthood employees agreed to earmark his donations for the abortions of African-American babies, he said he expected ACORN would yield maybe "a few gotcha moments."

"But we never imagined they would all comply -- it's just disgusting they didn't just throw us out of the office," he said.

In a statement released Saturday, ACORN said that it could not defend the actions of its employees but that what O'Keefe and Giles did was criminal.

"And, in fact, a crime it was -- our lawyers believe a felony -- and we will be taking legal action against Fox and their co-conspirators," the statement said.

Fox News aired the Baltimore and Washington tapes.

O'Keefe said, "ACORN wants it both ways."

"You can't fire the employees and then say I have defamed them," he said.

ACORN workers in two other cities, Baltimore and Washington, DC, had already fallen hooker, line and sinker for the hidden-camera sting operation by two conservative activists.

Four ACORN employees have been fired as a result of the earlier videos, and last Friday the Census Bureau severed its ties with the group, whose members had been hired to do canvassing during the 2010 census.

In an unrelated outrage, ACORN was accused of widespread voter fraud during the 2008 presidential election by helping unqualified voters to register.

As in prior videos released by the filmmaking team of James O'Keefe, 25, and Hannah Giles, 20, employees of the group -- which specializes in housing and voter activism -- were eager to dispense advice on gaming the system and skirting the law.

"You know, what goes on in the house we don't care," one counselor said. "We just help you with the mortgage."

O'Keefe and Giles were garishly dressed as a stereotypical pimp and prostitute. O'Keefe was decked out in excessively snazzy flesh-peddler couture, and Giles, going by the name "Eden," wore almost nothing.

The ACORN workers were not the slightest bit judgmental or put off by the request for help in getting financing for a brothel.

Counselor Volda Albert freely offered financial advice to the young couple, and held back on giving out any life advice.

"I can't tell you don't do it, because you won't listen to me," Albert said.

For tax and banking purposes, and to establish a legitimate income and credit history, Giles was told she needed to start saying she was a "freelancer."

"Don't say that you're a prostitute thing or whatever," she said.

Albert also suggested that Giles open two accounts at separate banks, depositing no more than $500 each a week to ensure few eyebrows are raised.

As for the rest of the money she earned from turning tricks, Albert told her to hide it away.

ACORN workers in two other cities, Baltimore and Washington, DC, had already fallen hooker, line and sinker for the hidden-camera sting operation by two conservative activists.

Four ACORN employees have been fired as a result of the earlier videos, and last Friday the Census Bureau severed its ties with the group, whose members had been hired to do canvassing during the 2010 census.

In an unrelated outrage, ACORN was accused of widespread voter fraud during the 2008 presidential election by helping unqualified voters to register.

As in prior videos released by the filmmaking team of James O'Keefe, 25, and Hannah Giles, 20, employees of the group -- which specializes in housing and voter activism -- were eager to dispense advice on gaming the system and skirting the law.

"You know, what goes on in the house we don't care," one counselor said. "We just help you with the mortgage."

O'Keefe and Giles were garishly dressed as a stereotypical pimp and prostitute. O'Keefe was decked out in excessively snazzy flesh-peddler couture, and Giles, going by the name "Eden," wore almost nothing.

The ACORN workers were not the slightest bit judgmental or put off by the request for help in getting financing for a brothel.

Counselor Volda Albert freely offered financial advice to the young couple, and held back on giving out any life advice.

"I can't tell you don't do it, because you won't listen to me," Albert said.

For tax and banking purposes, and to establish a legitimate income and credit history, Giles was told she needed to start saying she was a "freelancer."

"Don't say that you're a prostitute thing or whatever," she said.

Albert also suggested that Giles open two accounts at separate banks, depositing no more than $500 each a week to ensure few eyebrows are raised.

As for the rest of the money she earned from turning tricks, Albert told her to hide it away.

"When you buy the house with a back yard. You get a tin . . . and bury it down in there, and you put the money right in, and you put grass over it, and you don't tell a single soul but yourself where it is," she said.

Albert even had advice on protecting O'Keefe from getting tied by authorities to Giles' prostitution.

Her illegally obtained revenue could be given to O'Keefe through an intermediary, and then he could use it for a down payment on the house by applying for a "no doc" loan.

So President Obama lied, plain and simple.

OBAMA LIE #2: "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits either now or in the future. Period."

THE TRUTH: The Democrat controlled Congressional Budget Office said Obamacare would add $220 billion to the deficit over 10 years, but will not succeed at shrinking the overall costs of our nation's health care. Republicans claim it's more like $600 billion increased deficit spending. (Confirmed by Associated Press, 9 Sep 09.) Either way, Obama lied.

OBAMA LIE #3: "Don't pay attention to those scary stories about how your benefits will be cut...That will never happen on my watch. I will protect Medicare."

THE TRUTH: The Washington Post reports Obama proposes "to squeeze more than $500 billion out of the growth of Medicare over the next decade....[which has] fueled fears that his effort to expand coverage to millions of younger, uninsured Americans will damage elder care. As a result, barely one-third of seniors support a health-care overhaul, several polls found." (Washington Post, 9 Aug 09) Even the Post admits, Obama lied.

OBAMA LIE #4: "If you lose your job or change your job, you will be able to get coverage."

THE TRUTH: Whether working or not, rich or poor, you will be ordered to get mandatory government-run health-care coverage, or pay a fine a $3800 fine per family, under the new Senate plan being railroaded through the finance committee by Max Baucus (D-MT). (New York Times, 9 Sep 09). Obama pretends you're "able" to get coverage, when he knows it's mandatory (with a big tax increase or "fine" penalty). Obama lied. But the biggest of all...

OBAMA LIE #5: "The claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple."

THE TRUTH: Mandatory "end of life" counseling in HR 3200 "shall" include counseling every 5 years to the elderly, giving doctors a monetary incentive to persuade you to sign a "do not resuscitate" (DNR) order to pull the plug on Grandma, just like the Obama administration already pressures all Veterans to sign them. (Confirmed by the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal, read extensive details at PrayInJesusName.org.) And under the British NHS government-run health plan, "Patients with terminal illnesses are being made to die prematurely under an NHS scheme to help end their lives, leading doctors have warned." (The Daily Telegraph, 2 Sep 09). Dr. Ewing Cook just admitted intentionally killing patients who signed DNR authorizations during Hurricane Katrina. "I gave her medicine so I could get rid of her faster…there's no question I hastened her demise." Bottom line: Grandma, don't sign Obama's DNR order, even if your doctor gets a bonus check from the President for talking you into that.

Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent.

It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing
European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the
election of America's first black president and hope that Washington will
honour its promise to re-engage with the world.

Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronizing
in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has
barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome
for peace.

The pretext for the prize was Mr Obama's decision to 'strengthen
international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples'. Many people will
point out that, while the President has indeed promised to 'reset' relations
with Russia and offer a fresh start to relations with the Muslim world,
there is little so far to show for his fine words.

The choice of Dr Henry Kissinger and Mr Le Duc Tho as joint winners of
the Nobel peace prize continued to provoke criticism today

East-West relations are little better than they were six months ago, and
any change is probably due largely to the global economic downturn; and
America's vaunted determination to re-engage with the Muslim world has
failed to make any concrete progress towards ending the conflict between the
Israelis and the Palestinians.

There is a further irony in offering a peace prize to a president whose
principal preoccupation at the moment is when and how to expand the war in
Afghanistan.

The spectacle of Mr Obama mounting the podium in Oslo to accept a prize
that once went to Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi and Mother Theresa would
be all the more absurd if it follows a White House decision to send up to 40
000 more US troops to Afghanistan. However just such a war may be deemed in
Western eyes, Muslims would not be the only group to complain that peace is
hardly compatible with an escalation in hostilities.

The Nobel committee has made controversial awards before. Some have
appeared to reward hope rather than achievement: the 1976 prize for the two
peace campaigners in Northern Ireland, Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan,
was clearly intended to send a signal to the two battling communities in
Ulster. But the political influence of the two winners turned out, sadly, to
be negligible.

In the Middle East, the award to Menachem Begin of Israel and Anwar
Sadat of Egypt in 1978 also looks, in retrospect, as naive as the later
award to Yassir Arafat, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin — although it could
be argued that both the Camp David and Oslo accords, while not bringing
peace, were at least attempts to break the deadlock.

Mr Obama's prize is more likely, however, to be compared with the most
contentious prize of all: the 1973 prize to Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho
for their negotiations to end the Vietnam war. Dr Kissinger was branded a
warmonger for his support for the bombing campaign in Cambodia; and the
Vietnamese negotiator was subsequently seen as a liar whose government never
intended to honour a peace deal but was waiting for the moment to attack
South Vietnam.

Mr Obama becomes the third sitting US President to receive the prize.
The committee said today that he had 'captured the world's attention'. It is
certainly true that his energy and aspirations have dazzled many of his
supporters. Sadly, it seems they have so bedazzled the Norwegians that they
can no longer separate hopes from achievement. The achievements of all
previous winners have been diminished.

Sunstein: Take organs from 'helpless patients'
'Though it may sound grotesque, routine removal would save lives'

President Obama's newly confirmed regulatory czar defended the
possibility of removing organs from terminally ill patients without their
permission.

Cass Sunstein also has strongly pushed for the removal of organs from
deceased individuals who did not explicitly consent to becoming organ donors

In his 2008 book, "Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and
Happiness," Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler discussed multiple legal
scenarios regarding organ donation. One possibility presented in the book,
termed by Sunstein as "routine removal," posits that "the state owns the
rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless
conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone's
permission."

"Though it may sound grotesque, routine removal is not impossible to defend,
wrote Sunstein. "In theory, it would save lives, and it would do so without
intruding on anyone who has any prospect for life."
Sunstein continued: "Although this approach is not used comprehensively by
any state, many states do use the rule for corneas (which can be
transplanted to give some blind patients sight). In some states, medical
examiners performing autopsies are permitted to remove corneas without
asking anyone's permission."

Sunstein's example of medical examiners removing corneas, however, applies

After defending the position, Sunstein conceded the "routine removal"
approach "violates a generally accepted principle, which is that within
broad limits, individuals should be able to decide what is to be done with
and to their bodies."

Still, Sunstein did not add that the removal of organs from a living
individual should be banned.

Also in the same book, CNS News previously noted Sunstein argued for
removing organs from deceased patients who are not registered as organ
donors, a policy not without precedent. Spain and some European Union
countries have been debating accepting a law of implied consent.
Writes Sunstein: "A policy that can pass libertarian muster by our standards
is called presumed consent."

"Presumed consent preserves freedom of choice, but it is different from
explicit consent because it shifts the default rule. Under this policy, all
citizens would be presumed to be consenting donors, but they would have the
opportunity to register their unwillingness to donate, and they could do so
easily. We want to underline the word easily, because the harder it is to
register your unwillingness to participate, the less libertarian the policy
becomes."

Sunstein continues: "Although presumed consent is an extremely effective way
to increase the supply of organs available for transplant, it may not be an
easy sell politically. Some will object to the idea of 'presuming' anything
when it comes to such a sensitive matter. We are not sure that these
objections are convincing, but this is surely a domain in which forced
choosing, or what is referred to in this domain as mandated choice, has
considerable appeal."

Sunstein advocates making it mandatory for all citizens to register either
as an organ donor or as unwilling to donate their organs.

"Mandated choice could be implemented through a simple addition to the
driver's license registration scheme used in many states. With mandated
choice, renewal of your driver's license would be accompanied by a
requirement that you check a box stating your organ donation preferences.
Your application would not be accepted unless you had checked one of the
boxes. The options might include 'yes, willing to donate' and 'no, unwilling
to donate.'"

I know what you're thinking: Maybe this is just another Internet hoax.

I wish it were.

But Barack Obama and Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) want to make this nightmare a reality. That's why Rockefeller recently introduced S. 773, "The Cybersecurity Act of 2009."

Initial cosponsors include Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN), Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME).

You see, Barack Obama is seeking sweeping new powers to "shut down" all private internet in the event of a "cybersecurity emergency" — a vague term that the President can define at his discretion.

And Rockefeller's bill gives Barack Obama just what he wants.

That's why this expansive new power grab should really be called "The Internet Takeover Bill."

As you know, the Internet has developed into an independent sphere where 1st Amendment Rights can still be (fairly) freely exercised.

It's also become an important outlet for liberty-minded speech, cutting around the Obama-worship and corporate censorship of the mainstream media.

And we've already seen the Obama Administration's reaction to any online speech they deem "fishy."

In July, the Administration called upon Americans to report their friends' and neighbors' emails to help Barack Obama silence the "disinformation" about the Obamacare bills in Congress.

Well, now Barack Obama wants to cut out the middle man.

If the Internet Takeover Bill passes, Barack Obama can silence his dissenters directly — by ordering a shutdown of all Americans' access to the Internet.

That's right. Under this bill Barack Obama can order all non-government U.S. networks to shut down access to the Internet.

But that's not all.

Even outside of periods of White House-declared "emergency," this bill mandates that private-sector networks only be managed by government-licensed "cybersecurity professionals."

If you think dealing with your office IT department is bad now, just wait until they're federally-licensed bureaucrats.

And God forbid you like to visit websites that spread "fishy disinformation" like freemarket healthcare solutions: Passing socialized medicine could soon become enough of an "emergency" for Barack Obama to shut them down.

You know, for the public good.

Well, I know I like writing to you, and I hope you like hearing from me.

Or if not me, at least you probably like staying in touch with your family and friends, and having access to uncensored news and current events.

And that's why I hope you'll help Campaign for Liberty stop the Internet Takeover Bill by signing our Internet User's Mandate to Congress.

Today, legislation like this — built on the same statist principles as the infamous Patriot Act — has to sneak through Congress quietly.

They know Americans are no longer willing to swallow this "for our own good" swill.
